[Travelogue- Phuket] Rediscover your Sanity at Ao Sane and Beach

Ao Sane Beach Restaurant is located on a rocky beach of the same name in the southern tip of Phuket. Getting there took some time, but we just kept riding! Persevere and you shall be rewarded! We picked this hidden beach restaurant more for its idyllic setting than its kitchen skills but were pleasantly surprised when both noodle dishes recommended by the server turned out pretty decent! “Dry Noodles with Pork” is not a name that captures your attention. The simple dry tossed egg noodles with slivers of pork and vegetables (think Singapore Bak Chor Mee) was well cooked = springy al dente noodles; well flavored = good balance of garlicky shallot oil and fish sauce dressing; and well received = we wiped down the bowl!

This dry tossed noodles reminds me of Bak Cho Mee (Minced meat noodles) back in Singapore.

Although I tend to try different items in a restaurant, this, I might just order again! It’s simple comfort food that works! The Famous Phuket Noodles, on the other hand, makes you sit up and wonder…! How famous is this exactly?

This is possibly their rendition of the popular local Fried Hokkien Noodles. The fat yellow noodles stir fried with seafood in a savory brown gravy was easy on the palate. But it wouldn’t be something I’d dream about! The menu at Ao Sane Restaurant boasts many local dishes as well as pastas and salads. The restaurant is a big wooden hut facing the quiet beach which is lovely… not packed with tourists, thus no vendors breathing down your neck trying to sell you a massage or hair braid. Its a great place away from the crowd to chill,  read a book, sun bathe, snorkel, grab a bite, have a drink and watch the sunset, which we didn’t, but I’ll bet is good.
