The newly opened @eatjiak serves the famous Jin Feng 金锋 Lu Rou Fan (ala Braised Pork Rice) from Taiwan. Lou Rou Fan is probably one of my favorite Taiwanese foods. Sadly most places in Singapore make just mediocre versions. Can’t accurately compare this one to the mothership in Taipei since I haven’t been; but based on the many others I have tried, I gotta say @eatjiak ‘s was pretty decent 👍🏻. The braised meat was very flavorful. Strangely reminded me somewhat of the filling within a Nonya Bak Chang Dumpling! It leans towards sweet and carries strong hints of spices. For $4.90, a generous scoop of braised meat is spooned over a substantial amount of short grain rice, with half a hard-boiled egg (which was hard in every sense of the word), and some pickled cucumber (a great palate cleanser for between bites). Personally, I’d prefer a little less fatty cuts in the meat; although in actual fact, an authentic Lu Rou Fan demands it for that slimy melt-in-the-mouth effect. And if you can get over the unexciting packaging, it’s seriously not too bad as far as Lu Rou Fans are concerned. Note that this is a takeaway kiosk; so unless you feel comfortable enough to stand around, precariously holding the box in one hand and a spoon in the other, you’re better off bringing this home to enjoy.. on a more attractive plate no less 🙂🌻! Disclaimer☝🏻- Not wanting to be influenced and obligated, I paid for this meal myself, even though there had been an invitation to a complimentary Media Tasting. So I guess...., “Thanks for lunch @fatsochef 😄😄!!” #fatsochefwashere#fatsochef#jiak#luroufan#braisedporkrice#braisedpork#taiwanesefood#amkhub#foodreview#foodiesofinstagram#foodiesg#foodtasting#卤肉#金峰#台湾小吃

I’ve seen posts on this hor fun dish a number of times on IG. But it was @eatwithroy ‘s IGTV which pushed me to hunt it down!! In his video,he went,“😮𝑾𝒂𝒂𝒉! 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒌 𝒉𝒆𝒊!" "😮𝑾𝒂𝒂𝒉! 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒆𝒉!" “😮𝑾𝒂𝒂𝒉! 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒇 𝒊𝒔 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓!" Yep! 3 “Waahs!” in 3 mouthfuls, wider eyes 👀 in every bite; not to mention the pure bliss and joy in the face and voice, you know you gotta try it for yourself!! I ordered both the Beef Hor Fun 🐄, and the Fish Hor Fun 🐟, and couldn’t resist a Fried Prawn Paste Chicken as well. The wait wasn’t long and in about 10 minutes, we were eating. I love the gluey silky gravy and smooth beaten egg in the savory sauce enveloping the smokey flat rice noodles. The beef was indeed tender and so were the sliced fish. Reasonable wok hei 🔥 as raved, especially the first few spoonfuls when it’s hot from the wok. 🐓The Prawn Paste Chicken ala Har Jeong Gai was quite delicious too. Freshly fried to order, each meaty mid-wing was evenly coated in a batter that turned super crispy upon frying. The flavor was deep and the meat was juicy. I enjoyed the food but I probably wouldn’t rush back for another round. Having said that, I’d definitely eat it again if I’m ever in the neighborhood! Maybe next time I’ll try the Pork Chop Rice 🐖, the other dish @eatwithroy devoured with gusto😋!! #fatsochefwashere#fatsochef#foodreview#beef#fish#chicken#horfun#ricenoodles#wokhei#singaporehawkers#singaporefood#sgfoodie#sgfood#localfood#supportlocal#hawkerculture#foodpic#foodcollage#foodloversofinstagram
